slow writing and sunny May wrap up
from seeing Beyoncé's band jam together to being held by divine feminine energy present and legacy.
Hey y’all,
A really short one today with a lot of pictures (shoot by Spoon Shao) !
So I haven’t been as active this month, because I am taking time focus on my EP, socialising and life (seeing Beyoncé) - plus I am back at school with the WRD.
That being said I do have a dope interview coming up with a DIY Musicians, we chat about disability and music industry - so stay tuned. :)
So what has been happening in May ?
We have legends to look up too
I have really been reflecting on what it means to be a performer, the aspect of vulnerability and preparation. Great Black Women performers ascended in May, Grace Bumbry and Tina Turner RIP.
I came across an IG reel of Grace Bumbry, a classically trained opera singer talking about her performance methodology.
Serve the music
Serve the text
Serve the Character
Listening to Grace say this, it reminded me of RIP Donna Summer saying she was actor. I think I wanna explore this more, and develop a character.
Divine Feminine May
In my monthly IG Dump, I got to celebrate the Femmes in my life that have danced in the rain and the sun with me.
From hosting vinyl DJing workshop to learning dance moves on Saturday night in Brixton. What I love most about the femmes in my life is how we hold each other - it’s a unique gentleness.
Lastly, I just want to show flowers to Beyoncé band, I saw them in Cardiff and then at a private jam hosted by Lev3ls, Abdu Entertainment and Recordshop and it was so amazing, see for your self !
So yeah right now I am slowing down. - because I need to protect my energy, so I can share it with my music.
I would love to connect with y’all IRL. I have show on Thursday 14th June at Looking Glass Venue come through :)
